Based in Waratah (Newcastle), accommodation choices range from independent living at our Maroba Terrace units through to full care (including dementia, Alzheimer’s and palliative care).

We are seeking a Temporary Part Time (parental leave relief) Spiritual Care Employee three days p/w 9.30am - 2.30pm Wed and Thursday and 9.30am - 3.30pm Fridays. Our Spiritual Care Employee will be responsible for;
- Providing quality spiritual care centred on the individual resident needs and outcomes.
- Recognising and respecting the resident choices and preferences in the context of holistic care and connections to Community.
- Ensuring residents are supported to prepare for end of life by reflecting their life, contribution, worth and legacy.
- Involved in delivering (and developing) activities designed to activate, extend and explore spiritual connection including, church services, devotions, prayer groups, rituals and celebrations.
- Provide compassionate, professionally informed and confidential pastoral care support to patients, families and carers’, addressing their emotional and spiritual needs, respectful of diverse beliefs, culture and values, especially in times of crisis and towards the end of life.
- Assess, develop and provide care plan in response to identified spiritual needs of patients within routine scope of practice.
- Provide and participate in prayer, and or reflection times with patients, families and staff
We are seeking applicants who are able to demonstrate a high level of spiritual commitment and genuine heart for people together with;
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in working with older people or in a pastoral care capacity in communities, ideally, health or aged care experience would be desirable
- Strong communication and empathetic listening skills with an ability to develop rapport quickly with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work with diverse religious and cultural beliefs.
- Relevant Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy or Ministry qualifications would be desirable
